What is HAGA?
|
|
Our MissionHarvard Alumni for Global Action (HAGA) is an independent organization open to all Harvard alumni who seek to encourage the University to use alumni donations to reduce global educational disparities. HAGA members believe that Harvard's prominence and wealth make it uniquely able to support educational and research institutions in developing countries. HAGA therefore works to fund scholarships for African graduate students at Harvard and also to fund infrastructure improvements at needy African universities. Who We Are HAGA was founded by members of the Class of 1981 on the occasion of their 25th reunion and raised nearly $425,000 in its first year. HAGA was originally named Harvard Alumni for Social Action (HASA), but we changed our name in early 2009 to better reflect our mission and to avoid confusion with the Harvard African Students Association, an undergraduate group at Harvard. So far, over 750 Harvard and Radcliffe alumni have pledged their support for HAGA (see member list). We invite all alums to pledge their support and be part of this new and exciting initiative. To add your support sign up for our Mailing List. Let us know if you can help us introduce HAGA to your Harvard/Radcliffe classmates. We are already planning activities and coordinating outreach for next year's reunions. Support HAGA! Click on Donate Now to give to the two funds. |
